Eurogamer 2012 – Far Cry 3

It’s been a few years now since the last time we saw a Far Cry game. The last in the series was ground breaking in many ways but also a huge let down on many others. Now, we are getting ready for Far Cry 3 and going back to the wild side of the series. Get ready to lose your mind!

On show was a nice, fairly open section of the game which was great fun to play. Didn’t get to anything to crazy however in my play through but you can bet it’s there. As someone who put a lot of time into Far Cry 2 I was happy to see that on the surface, Far Cry 3 is very much the same game. You have the lash, wild forest setting this time around with more dangers and more ways to travel. A huge improvement over the open, flat grassland of the last game. The main point here about the setting is just how stunning it looks. It’s beautiful to look at and I found myself taking time to just enjoy the setting during my play at Eurogamer.

In terms of game play, It’s still the standard manner of run and gun with a few game play twists thrown in for good measure. It’s a well designed game that allows you some style in how you play. For an FPS it flows from action to action. You always have an option in even the most heated of gun fights ensuring that you can come at on too one way or another. Be it climbing up high, using take downs or just doing something bad ass.

Of course Far Cry 3 is all about the insane world and our own minds and from what I’ve seen, along with getting hands on with the game, it’s fair to say that Far Cry 3 will be a roller coaster of a ride when it releases in a few weeks.

Far Cry 3 Is a step in the right direction for not just the series but also first person shooters as a whole. It’s stunning visual, creative and fun game play and an insane setting are all perfect reasons to make sure you pick up Far Cry 3.
