Pon Pon Wei Wei Wei…

Today blogger Sami Spoon takes a look at the wild and wonderful Kyary Pamyu Pamyu.

Chances are if you know the subject of today’s topic you are always getting carried away singing and dancing to her hit single “PON PON PON”, but to those who are left feeling confused (an possibly scared) it of course refers to Japan’s current #1 entertainment queen; Kyary Pamyu Pamyu.

Starting out as fashion blogger she was picked up by several magazines such as FRUiTS, Kera and Zipper in street snaps for her own unique dress sense, this achieved her some relative fame in the fashion community, as she combined kawaii and punk with decora (a style that has slowly begin to disappear from the lime light)

Her first bigger break was when she released her own collaboration with the Zipper owned company Eyemazing, and produced 3 sets of eyelash designs names the “Harajuku Doll series”.

Though she received much acclaim for her music career which began in the Summer of 2011, her debut single PON PON PON became a viral hit for it’s rather crazy visual and catchy lyrics, resulting in open praise and admiration on Twitter by US superstar Katy Perry.

“I wanted to be juice when I was in high school.”

Her quirky nature has captured the hearts of fans all over the world and she is most certainly in a very wild entertainment boom at the moment and she has become an advertisers dream!

Already taking toys by storm with a collaboration of designer plush items with a popular character Mameshiba (the little pea shaped dog) that were in several Harajuku fashion styles and wore one of her signature Eyeball hair bows.

She was also the choice of well known food company Glico who used her to advertise their puddings, the adverts were another hilarious viral hit of hers as they feature Kyary bursting in on dull situations (house cleaning, a board meeting) doing a funky little jig and putting a “happy” spell on the dull person which makes them repeat the dance moves and then they both enjoy pudding… She was also head to toe in pudding themed attire too, you can see why the internet would be all over that!

I’ve heard word that her next advertising venture will be for KFC and their Krushem Milkshakes, whilst you may be able to imagine what it could look like, when it comes to Kyary you just never know!

What could be next for Kyary Pamyu Pamyu?

Her first full album “Pamyu Pamyu Revolution” hits the shelves on the 23rd of May 2012. After that? The same thing she does every night, Pinky – try to take over the world!

Kyary is such a bubbly visual person, it can be hard to successfully present her in words alone. So I highly recommend you check her out for yourself. You won’t be disappointed!

You can find more on Kyary Pamyu Pamyu on her website, blog, Twitter, Facebook and fan-run Tumblr.
