Before Watchmen

Earlier in the week DC announced that they would be releasing a series of mini-series named “Before Watchmen”. These eight books will act as a prequel to the smash hit series “Watchmen”. Will this mimic the success of the original book or crash and burn.

There has been rumour of this series for over a year now, after the smash hit film who can blame them. I myself am surprised it didn’t happen earlier as there our so many stories still to be told within this universe epically with the likes of the “Minutemen” who we got very little information on.

The reaction too this news hasn’t all been positive, the original creator Alan Moore is opposed to the project as a whole similar to his approach on the Watchmen 2009 film. I can understand Alan Moore’s frustration with DC using the work he no longer wishes to be associated with, although I don’t believe this is just another money grabbing scheme. The creative teams they have chosen reflect this Brian Azzarello and J.G. Jones on the “Comedian”, Brain Azzarello and Lee Bermejo on “Rorschach”, Len Wein and Jae Lee on “Ozymandias”, Darwyn Cooke and Amanda Conner on “Silk Spectre”, Darwyn Cooke on “Minutemen” Len Wein and John Higgins on “Crimson Corsair”, J.Michael Straczynski and Adam Hughes on “Dr. Manhattan and lastly J.Michael Straczynski, Andy Kubert and Joe Kubert on “Nite Owl”.

These are all huge names in the industry and it shows that Geoff Jones and Jim Lee have gone out of their way and put a lot of thought into this project. I can’t wait too see what this project has in store. I’m especially excited to see what the “Rorschach” series holds in store but only time will tell.

Thanks for reading true believers stay tuned to Yatta for more news!
