It could only be the masterminds from id Software who would give us such a stunning game. Rage is a post-apocalyptic first-person shooter that combines elements of other game such as Fallout 3, Bioshock and Doom 3 to create a very unique, open-world RPG experience.
The game incorporates a ton of different elements, many of which I was able to experience during the demo. Firstly, I played this on the Xbox 360. I personally believe it will be even better on the PC, but in terms of graphical quality, Rage looked superb, right down to the tiniest detail. Small items that the player can use glow with a yellow light, and can be picked up in a manner similar to Bioshock.
One concern shared by the developers was the integration of driving mechanics in a title of this calibre. They can rest assured as can you all, as these particular elements were superbly represented. The driving is perfect and very useful, as it makes traversing the wide open landscapes that much easier. There’s a great variety of vehicles to use, each with their own advantages when facing down the degenerates of the wastes.
The enemies are very aggressive, but not insanely difficult to kill, and the wide range of weapons allow for many different combat roles, be it silent and stealthy, or head-on destructive. The environments are excellently detailed, brimming with life and variety. It is by far one of the most graphically impressive games of the show.
All in all, Rage looks awesome, pure fun and carnage, and I can’t wait to get it!
